Essential Boat Trailer Accessories Every Boat Owner Needs

· Trailer Winches

Many people today want to escape from their daily lives from time to time and go on a solitary trip either on land or sea. The latter option goes well if you pair it with beautiful weather. Boating may seem like an intimidating excursion to first-timers, but if you are not afraid of diving into the open sea with your diesel-powered vessel, you can benefit a lot from taking this trip. Boating can be a great vacation for the mind as it helps you relax and enjoy the soothing, “healing” nature of the calm sea.

Essential Boat Trailer Accessories

Winch Strap/Belt

By hardware I mean marine trailer attachments that are mandatory in order to get your vessel in and out of the water. One of the first things you'll want to get is a winch belt. These essential boat trailer accessories are webbing ropes and hooks that attach to the winch reel and connect to the eye bolt on your boat. Combined with a winch, you can secure your vessel onto the trailer.

Winch straps come in three different materials: polyester, polypropylene, and nylon. Polyester winch belts are high strength and have low water absorption. This causes the polyester to have minimal stretch even when wet. Polyester sling straps are also abrasion resistant even though they are soft to the touch.

They are also not as affordable as those made from nylon. Nylon straps are also water-resistant, but have poor breaking strength while being susceptible to abrasion. Polypropylene belts are similar to nylon belts because they have poor breaking strength and are prone to abrasion but are also not as safe as nylon belts.

Winch

Without these boat trailer winches, you won't be able to use your winch strap and tow your boat away. These boat trailer winches are available in two different types, electric and manual. Manual winches require some grease to be able to get your boat out of the water while electric winches work with the click of a button. While the latter are more convenient, they are also highly dependent on electrical current. Manual winches are not, therefore they do not require a full battery to operate. Of course, manual winches are also less expensive than electric winches, but your arms won't care.

Trailer Guide

Another accessory that can help get your boat off the dock is a trailer guide. Also known as guides, these boat trailer accessories fit onto your trailer and help you load and unload your vessel safely and easily. It's very simple and can help you avoid accidents and unwanted damage. With our how-to guides, you'll load and unload your boat faster while staying safe. As long as you get adjustable guides that are made of PVC and wood, you will have durable and versatile guides that you will use for a long time.

Tail-Lights

The tail-lights on your marine trailer are just as important as the lights on your tow vehicle, which is why you should get submersible lights. With submersible tail-lights on your marine trailer, you won't have to worry about them being damaged when submerged in water. This is because the recessed taillights are waterproof and corrosion resistant. But despite this, you should also look for bright tail lights for marine boats, preferably LED tail lights as they are very efficient and long lasting.

Bunk Glides

When unloading your boat into the sea, it is important to make the task as smooth as possible. This is where you'll need to incorporate double-deck skids into your unloading process. These marine trailer accessories serve the sole purpose of making offloading your boat as safe and simple as possible. Double deck glides have a low friction surface that allows your boat to slide into the water without having to push it. Just lower your trailer and the boat will begin to slide. Make sure to remove your tie-downs when doing this as your boat will remain in place.

Wheel Clamp

When you unload your boat, you want to make sure that the trailer does not move. This is where you need to clamp the wheels either using a suitable wheel clamp or a block of wood to stop the wheels from turning. Make sure you get a wheel clamp that is the right size and easy to use, meaning it only has a lock to prevent the wheel from moving.
