Do you love fishing in the open waters of the oceans? Deep sea fishing is an exciting activity, but it comes with its own set of unique challenges, especially if you're fly fishing. Specifically, it is often difficult to keep your lure out of the white water left behind by the boat, which most fish avoid. Rather than returning to the beach empty-handed, you can improve the results of your fishing trip by using high-quality outriggers!
What is an Outrigger?
These fishing accessories are used primarily for deep sea trolling. In short, they hold fishing lines away from the boat, allowing you to avoid tangled lines, keep bait out of wakes, catch fish more widely, and have a better view of your potential catch. Once a fish lands, the prop releases the line so you can reel it onto your rod.
The outrigger can also be set at different distances and depths. Additionally, because you can place the outriggers in a variety of positions, you can create natural patterns with the bait, increasing your chances of catching something.
How do Fishing Outriggers Work?
Outriggers are attached to the sides of the boat to keep fishing lines out. They use clips and pulleys to keep the lines exactly where you want them. You can purchase outrigger in various sizes ranging from 12 feet to 35 feet. The size you choose depends on your boat size and your specific preferences.
At CKW Store, we offer high quality outrigger systems made from either carbon fiber or a combination of carbon fiber and stainless steel. These materials reduce the risk of rust and corrosion and provide a sleek, polished appearance.
When should Outrigger be used?
The best time to set outriggers is when fishing. If you space your substrates correctly, you can cover a lot of water with multiple lines – without the risk of frustrating tangling. Not only does this increase your odds of hooking something, but it also reduces the time you spend separating lines, allowing you to maximize your day on the water.
Outrigger Systems
There are three types of boat outboards: Bluewater, Deluxe and Coastal. Read more about each choice below:
Bluewater Outrigger System
The Bluewater Outrigger system features single-handle operation and stainless steel roller bearings that provide optimal control, even in extreme conditions. These outrigger are made from carbon fibre, which means they are lightweight and strong. They are available in lengths up to 22 feet, as well as indoor and collapsible models.
Luxury Outrigger Systems
Our premium Outrigger system is a less expensive option for sport fishing boats. The outriggers provide the same quality as the Bluewater system but are made from a more cost-effective carbon fiber blend. The deluxe outriggers also feature a single-handle design that allows you to adjust them from underneath the T-Top.
Coastal Outrigger Systems
The coastal pedestal system features a stainless steel base that you can place at any angle. Winner of the 2020 Miami Boat Show Innovation Award, these poles allow you to use hybrid poles and are an ideal choice for deep sea fishing or sandbar casting.
You can always buy an outrigger according to your boat size and your personal needs.
